Frontline just 2km from Kupyansk, official reports
As of January 4, the frontline is just two kilometers from the town of Kupyansk in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. The evacuation of local residents and humanitarian aid deloveries are being hindered by intense Russian shelling
Andrii Besedin, the head of the Kupyansk City Military Administration, reported this.
He stated that Russia continues its relentless shelling, using all available weapons, including mortars, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, guided bombs, and FPV drones. Russian troops are targeting central supply routes, making it difficult to deliver humanitarian aid and disrupt the movement of civilians.
Besedin said that the situation on the left bank of the Kupyansk community has been dire for the past three months, with no electricity, gas, water, social services, hospitals, pharmacies, or stores.
He also mentioned that more than 900 people, mostly elderly, remain on the left bank and are refusing to evacuate. In total, around 3,300 people are still in the Kupyansk community, and local authorities are urging them to leave.
