No Russian passport, no medicine: Russian forces in Enerhodar continue to intimidate locals
In the temporarily occupied Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region, Russian forces prohibit the distribution of vital medicines to residents who do not have a Russian passport
This was reported by the mayor of Enerhodar Dmytro Orlov.
"The invading Russian forces continue to abuse the residents of the occupied territories by introducing new restrictions for those who refuse to receive a Russian passport. It is likely that due to the insufficient pace of passportization in the occupied territories, occupying Russian forces are reprimanded by their criminal leadership. Therefore, the occupiers continue to put pressure on the population by all possible means, resorting to open terror and blackmail," the mayor said.
It is reported that on behalf of the occupation administration, the pharmacies that remained in the city and were seized refuse to provide vital medicines to citizens without Russian passports - first of all, insulin, some thyroid medicines, etc.
"These are exactly the categories of privileged medicines that Ukrainian citizens have the right to receive completely free of charge, because patients' lives depend on their use," explains Orlov.
At the same time, starting from September 1, in Enerhodar, the Russian occupation authorities want to ban the provision of medical care without a Russian passport.
"Already now, people who do not have a Russian 'paper' can be denied hospitalization or medical services. That is, the invading Russian forces are taking advantage of people’s vulnerability to force them to obtain a passport of their country. Such actions of the occupiers contradict not only all possible legal norms, legal articles and conventions, but also all principles of humanity and morality," the mayor added.
