Zhytomyr mayor announces impossibility of restoring work of some substations after Russian shellings
In Zhytomyr, it is currently impossible to restore the operation of some substations that were damaged after Russian rocket fire
Zhytomyr mayor Serhiy Sukhomlyn told about this during the telethon, Ukrinform reports.
At the same time, the mayor assured that Zhytomyr is recovering in the current situation.
"It is impossible to restore the work of some substations in such a time, because we are talking about equipment that has to be ordered and we have to wait a very long time for production. But Zhytomyr is alive. We have reduced the production of electric transport by three times. We turn on the lighting in the city at only 30% of the capacity, that is, in principle, every third lamp works. We at oblenergo clearly regulate the evening and morning peaks. For example, we reduce the water supply to treatment plants during the day in order to reduce energy consumption and start after the peaks have passed. This does not affect the water supply in any way in the city," said Sukhomlyn.
According to him, some of the city's industrial enterprises, which consume a lot of electricity, have switched to work at night and on weekends. Of course, stabilization shutdowns also take place in citizens' homes, but only for a few hours and according to the schedule, the mayor assured.
"At an extraordinary session (of the city council. - ed.), we allocated funds for the purchase of high-power generators in order to ensure the operation of the water utility and thermal utility. In the event of a critical situation, when there may be no electricity in the city for a while, these enterprises will be able to supply water and heat to the homes of Zhytomyr residents. Of course, not 24 hours a day, but 5-8 hours a day," the mayor added.
In case of an emergency, schools and kindergartens of the city will work as heating points. In Zhytomyr, it is planned to equip 36 such points, each of which will be equipped with a generator.
