Nation debating plan for victory, not survival
I haven't been writing much lately, perhaps because the depth of the crisis our country is in has been quite obvious since mid-summer, or even earlier
The extension of the front line has inevitably affected stability at the front. The Kursk operation revealed important truths about Russia's vulnerabilities, but it predictably “ate” many of our most combat-ready brigades.
This did not change the West's stance, which was also foretold.
As we enter winter, we face an extremely difficult situation on the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia fronts, with significant territorial losses and heavy casualties in the Kursk region - particularly among our people.
With the hope of “somehow coming to an agreement” to deter the enemy from launching missile attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
We find ourselves in extremely difficult geopolitical conditions, with support from our partners waning, criticisms increasing, resentments growing, and the situation particularly uncertain in the United States, where things could change dramatically.
Meanwhile, our enemy has gained recognition among the 36 countries that attended the BRICS summit in Kazan. Putin has initiated a strategy to weaken the United States and NATO, successfully convincing the so-called “global south” of the possibility of a multipolar world.
We are almost the only nation in the world that has been living through the most intense war since World War II for nearly a thousand days.
We suffer daily attacks and immense losses, burying children killed by Russians and mourning our best sons and daughters - every day. Every village cemetery is draped in yellow and blue, a painful reminder of our losses, and all hospitals are filled with wounded soldiers.
We are a nation that learns to look at people without legs or arms on the streets with the right respect, but without excessive attention, so as not to offend. There are so many of them. A nation where everyone going to bed tonight knows they may not wake up, because each night is a lottery, and Russia can strike anywhere.
We are a nation that, in these conditions, is debating a plan for victory, not a plan for survival.
