Ukrainian poet Oleksii Bezpaltsev killed in combat
A 34-year-old Ukrainian serviceman, poet, and novelist, Oleksii Bezpaltsev, was killed by Russian forces while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region
PEN Ukraine reported the news, stating, "Modernist poet Oleksii Bezpaltsev was killed at the front at the age of 34. He was performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv region when he was killed. Prior to that, he had been defending the Pokrovsk sector for a year."
Bezpaltsev, a native of Kharkiv, was known for his emotional poetry and prose. According to Chytomo, during his lifetime, he published two collections of short stories and participated in numerous poetry slams. After being mobilized, he fought for about a year in the Pokrovsk sector before moving on to the Kupyansk direction.
"Among Kharkiv's creative youth, amidst all the poets with strong voices, pathos, and often teenage texts, there are a few real talents, some of whom rise far beyond the average literary evening. Bezpaltsev stood out as a truly remarkable writer whose works address serious, even timeless issues," wrote Arsenii Troian about Bezpaltsev's work on the Bukvoid portal.
