Ukrainian troops capture Egyptian citizen fighting for Russia in Toretsk sector
During combat operations in the Toretsk area, soldiers with the 28th Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign captured an Egyptian citizen fighting alongside the Russian forces
The fighters wrote about the capture on Telegram.
"Failing to break through in small groups, the enemy started increasing their assault teams to up to 20 people. But the only thing that changed was the number of their casualties. The recent assault is a vivid example of this," the post says.
Taking advantage of foggy weather, a group of Russian troops managed to approach the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, they were hit with fire by infantry from the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of Ukraine's 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
Ukrainian forces destroyed part of the Russian group at close range. One Russian fighter managed to fall into a trench, but "he was quickly 'smoked out' with grenades."
"The rest of the assault group tried to flee, hide, or play dead. However, each of them was hunted down by the pilots of the Drone Systems Battalion and Kurt & Company," the soldiers wrote.
According to the report, "only one enemy fighter got lucky because he decided to surrender." However, it turned out he was an Egyptian citizen, so, as the soldiers noted, the infantry had to explain everything to him using gestures.
- The Russian serviceman was taken prisoner and during interrogation admitted that the command ordered the military to kill Ukrainian captured soldiers.
