Czech company secretly sends reactor equipment to Ukraine
The Czech-based Škoda JS, part of the ČEZ group, has delivered eight new drives for reactors at Ukraine’s Rivne nuclear power plant
Novinky reported the information.
The shipment included eight new drives for two VVER-440 reactors. In total, Škoda JS has sent 76 drives to the Rivne NPP under a contract signed before the full-scale war. Most of the equipment is already installed and operational, the outlet noted.
Another company in the group, ÚJV Řež, also delivered a special 173-meter cable weighing 13 tons to Ukraine. The cable is designed to reinforce the reactor’s protective structure.
Currently, Škoda JS is the only company globally capable of supplying this type of equipment for Ukraine’s nuclear plants, according to the company’s commercial director, who emphasized that other production facilities for this equipment exist only in Russia.
Škoda JS is also in talks to modernize the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant. Plans for expanding the Khmelnytskyi NPP will draw on the company’s experience completing Slovakia’s Mochovce nuclear power plant.
