2025 to 2029 may mark the start of a risky historical process – journalist Portnikov

Journalist Vitaly Portnikov notes the world is approaching a historical stage that has never been seen before in human history

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

“If Donald Trump wins, we can even come to some absolutely strange agreements between Russia and the United States, as well as to a real World War III with the use of strategic nuclear weapons, with the destruction of a large number of Americans and Russians before our astonished eyes. Anything can happen,” Portnikov emphasized.

The journalist suggests that the period from November 2024 to early 2025 represents a "dead historical zone," a pause where no significant events are expected to unfold. He points to the upcoming U.S. elections on November 5 as a key turning point, with the world watching closely to gauge America's stance and awaiting European responses. He predicts that only by January or February 2025 will clearer conclusions be drawn, marking a shift away from this interim period and perhaps the beginning of a new, decisive phase in global dynamics.

“For now, we need to watch and try to protect our infrastructure from Russian strikes. Because this dead zone is still a free hand for Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his army. We need to make sure that the Russians do not take advantage of these blind months. And then a new, incredibly interesting and risky historical process will begin in 2025-2029. We need to go through it so that in November 2028, when a new American president is elected, we can talk about the prospects for a way out of the situation,” Portnikov explained.
