Russia’s goals in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region are political, local official says
Serhiy Lyshenko, a volunteer and member of the Zaporizhzhia regional council, believes that the Russian army has been tasked with reaching the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
According to Lyshenko, “From the direction of Pryiutne, it is quite difficult to advance toward Zaporizhzhia because it is a considerable distance from the city. The Russian movement toward Huliaiole and Levadne, which they recently withdrew from the gray zone, is not aimed at reaching Zaporizhzhia but rather at advancing toward the Dnipropetrovsk region.”
He noted that there is approximately 11 kilometers from the demarcation line to the border of the Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, where Russia is establishing a border between these three areas.
“This indicates the political objective of the Russian authorities for their army—to reach the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region by the end of this year, at least at some point, to demonstrate that the goals of the so-called 'special military operation' are being met and that they have advanced into the Dnipropetrovsk region. They require purely technical access to the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region, regardless of where it may be, unfortunately," Lyshenko emphasized.
