Vladyslav Selezniov, a military analyst, colonel with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, believes that several factors caused the loss of Selydove and Vyshneve

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

“The enemy continues to attack, regroups its forces and means, and of course, now it has another foothold to attack in the direction of Myrnohrad and Pokrovsk in the future. Obviously, the situation on the battlefield is quite threatening, and there are three equally important factors that are responsible for this situation. The first factor is the constant lack of sufficient resources for our defenders: ammunition, artillery systems, heavy infantry weapons, i.e., everything that is auxiliary to the defense operations, we lack. The second factor is the shortage of personnel and physical fatigue of our soldiers who have been engaged in defense for a long time. That is, they need rotation, and physical and emotional exhaustion is taking its toll,” he said.

Vladyslav Selezniov believes that the Ukrainian command is not analyzing the fighting.

“And the third factor, which I think should be discussed at the level of the President of Ukraine - the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces - at the level of the Ministry of Defense, is the adoption of certain command decisions, which are not always constructive and rational. And, unfortunately, despite the fact that we all want to become part of the North Atlantic Alliance, NATO, we still do not follow one of the main instructions or elements of the study of combat operations - the so-called post-operational analysis. That is, when there is an analysis of combat operations, identification of positive and negative features of the process in order to avoid the problems and mistakes that occurred before. Unfortunately, there is no such assessment, and accordingly, there are some counterproductive command decisions that, among other things, contributed to our losing control over Selydove and a number of other settlements in the southern Donetsk region,” the military expert noted.

  • On Wednesday, October 30, it became known that Russian troops captured Selydove in the Donetsk region.
