Ukrainians warned of possible massive missile attacks on Independence Day
The threat of missile attacks from the Black Sea on the territory of Ukraine remains high, particularly ahead of and during Independence Day
The head of the Joint Press Centre of the South Operational Command Natalia Humeniuk announced this at a briefing, Ukrinform reports.
According to Humeniuk, the current activity of Russian aviation and the presence of enemy ships in the Black Sea bays is an indirect sign of preparation for attacks.
"This threat remains. Let me remind you that even from the bay, they can hit virtually any point on the territory of Ukraine... And knowing our enemy's attraction to sacred dates, it is likely that threats will increase during this period and massive attacks are possible, in particular with the use of surface and underwater missile launchers, strategic and tactical aviation, and attack drones," the South Command said in a statement.
The military believes that the threat will increase closer to important dates.
"That is why we are talking about a possible threat that will increase closer to important dates, and their [missile carriers] absence now may indicate that they are preparing. And the activity of MiGs observed over the past two days may indicate preliminary coordination of air forces, which is also an indirect sign of preparation for attacks," said Natalia Humeniuk.
