Russian Black Sea Fleet's role in war is shelling Ukrainian territory, trying to obstruct civilian vessels – expert
According to military expert Denys Popovych, the Russian Black Sea Fleet's actions have been limited to shelling Ukrainian territory and obstructing civilian vessels. This reduced role is a result of the fleet's losses
He stated this on Espreso.
“After the cruiser "Moskva" was destroyed, the Russians became more cautious with their Black Sea fleet. Nowadays, the Russian Black Sea Fleet mainly engages in shelling Ukrainian territory and blocking civilian vessels at sea. One reason for this caution is the presence of unmanned naval drones in Ukraine. This has led them to keep their fleet hidden, as they recognize the significant cost difference between ships and naval drones, with the latter having a much greater impact," explained Popovych.
The expert also highlighted the importance of neutralizing the enemy's artillery systems to support our troops' advancement.
"We all know that artillery plays a crucial role in this war, causing a significant number of casualties. To ensure our successful advancement, we need a substantial advantage in artillery. Additionally, when dealing with breaking through the initial line of defense, particularly the Russian minefields supported by enemy artillery fire, we had to eliminate the enemy's artillery to facilitate our progress through the minefields," he added.
