100+ missiles, drones detected over Ukrainian nuclear plants in recent weeks
Over the past few weeks, more than 70 Russian drones and over 30 cruise missiles have been detected flying near Ukrainian nuclear power plants
Energoatom, Ukraine's largest power producer, reported the information on September 13.
The agency warned that these actions by Russia pose an unprecedented threat not only to Ukraine but to the entire continent.
"No country has ever created such risks to nuclear facilities before," Energoatom stated.
The agency noted that it reports each incident to the relevant authorities so that the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs can issue notes to the International Atomic Energy Agency and alert both domestic and international organizations.
Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin called for a strong international response and condemnation of Russia's actions.
"The global community must pressure Russia to cease its threats to Ukraine’s nuclear power plants," Kotin said.
- A massive Russian missile attack on Monday, September 2, damaged a power line connecting the occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to Ukraine's power grid.
