Explosion near Kamianets-Podilskyi recruitment center kills one, injures four

The Mayor of Kamianets-Podilskyi, Mykhailo Positko, stated this during a telethon, Espreso reports.

According to the official, two of the injured are military medical commission doctors. They are in moderate condition, the other casualties are one passerby and one soldier.

Interfax reported that the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhivskyi, confirmed the death of the bomber. The man allegedly brought a package for someone at the building. 

"So far this year, we have already had 9 such incidents. The most recent occurred today at 1:00 PM in Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi region. The person approached the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center's checkpoint with a bag, asking to deliver a package, and at that moment, an explosion occurred. There are four casualties, and the perpetrator died," said Vyhivskyi.

Earlier, the police reported that the explosion near the Kamianets-Podilskyi Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center happened on Wednesday, February 5. All emergency services, a forensic laboratory, and an investigative-operational group from the Khmelnytskyi regional police were on-site, working to determine the cause and circumstances of the explosion.

According to preliminary information from Suspilne, one person was killed, and four were injured. The press service of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Territorial and Social Support Center also confirmed the explosion occurred around 1:10 PM. "Information about the victims and the cause of the explosion is being clarified. The area has been cordoned off for safety purposes. We ask citizens to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and wait for official statements from the competent authorities," said the press service.

Other incidents at Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers

In Rivne, on Saturday, February 1, an explosion at the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center resulted in one death and six people injured.

Also on Saturday, February 1, at a gas station in Pyriatyn, an unknown man approached a soldier of the Poltava military recruitment center and, threatening him with a hunting rifle, demanded he hand over his weapon. After being refused, the assailant shot the soldier. The soldier died from the gunshot wound at the scene. The incident occurred while military personnel were escorting conscripts to the 199th Training Center.
