This was reported by Energoatom’s press service.
"ZNPP is once again facing heightened danger. Currently, it remains connected to Ukraine's power grid by just one transmission line," the statement reads.
At the temporarily occupied ZNPP, one of the two external power lines supplying the plant with electricity from Ukraine was hit during the Russian attack.
Energoatom stressed that if the remaining line is damaged, an emergency could arise due to the loss of external power to the pumps that cool the reactor cores and spent fuel pools.
Ukrainian experts cannot yet inspect the damage or begin repairs because of the threat of renewed attacks by Russian forces.
Repairs will commence once the safety of the specialists can be guaranteed.
- On the morning of September 2, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Ukraine. Missiles targeted Kyiv, causing debris to fall in several districts and injuring three people.
