Defense Minister Rustem Umerov made the announcement.
"Ukraine is ramping up production of these systems and integrating full-fledged robotic units into the combat brigades of the Armed Forces on the front line," he said.
The project builds on testing conducted since summer 2024 in collaboration with military personnel.
Unmanned ground systems have already proven their ability to handle various combat tasks, including:
- carrying out offensive and defensive operations;
- providing logistical support to units;
- evacuating wounded soldiers from the battlefield;
- mining and demining territories.
"It’s crucial that the main suppliers of ground robotic systems are leading domestic companies. Ukrainian manufacturers have tailored their products to modern warfare conditions and the needs of combat units," Umerov emphasized.
- In January, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense codified and approved around 130 new weapons and military equipment models for use in the Defense Forces. About 100 of them were produced by Ukrainian arms manufacturers.
