Ukraine’s Defense Ministry approves nearly 130 new weapons, military equipment in January
Throughout January, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry codified and approved for operation in the Defense Forces about 130 new types of weapons and military equipment
The press service of the defense ministry reported this, citing Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Anatolii Klochkо.
“Given the high intensity of combat operations on the front line, our soldiers require more weapons across a wide range of categories. We specifically need more innovative means of destruction to enhance our troops’ capabilities on the battlefield. Domestic arms manufacturers are responding swiftly to current needs, increasing production volumes, and developing advanced weapon systems. Particularly notable progress has been made in the development of various types of unmanned systems, including aerial, ground, and maritime drones, as well as electronic warfare (EW) equipment,” said Brigadier General Anatolii Klochkо.
It was reported that among the codified military equipment since the beginning of 2025, unmanned aerial systems make up the largest share, with nearly 40 different models, including drones with fiber-optic control channels.
“The list of codified military equipment in the first month of 2025 also includes over 20 types of military vehicles of various categories and purposes. Additionally, new types of ammunition, logistics equipment, and ground-based robotic systems have been approved for use. Some specialized equipment for engineering and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) units has also been introduced into the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” the statement says.
The Defense Ministry noted that among the foreign weaponry codified for the needs of the Defense Forces are several models of firearms from well-known European and U.S. arms manufacturers. This includes grenade launchers, specialized vehicles, and more.
- Additionally, the Defense Ministry codified and approved for service in the Ukrainian Armed Forces the Ukrainian-made Hromylo unmanned aerial system.
