Residents of Ukraine’s Pokrovsk describe past day as 'hell'
Journalist Natalia Biriukova from the Orbita TV channel and the Svoi online media reports that around 7,000 residents remain in Pokrovsk
She shared this information on Espreso TV.
“Those who remain in the city described the past day as hellish because, in addition to constant shelling, air bombs were also dropped, injuring people and volunteers. As far as I understand, they were unable to deliver aid. So, the situation in Pokrovsk is extremely dire,” she said.
According to Natalia Biriukova, the Russian army is approximately two kilometers from Pokrovsk.
“But I believe they won’t storm the city; they are bypassing it. According to official sources, about 7,000 residents remain in the city. Most of them are elderly people who say they have nowhere to go and will die here.
There is no centralized water supply, heating, or electricity in the city, and there are significant communication disruptions. I think communication is almost entirely down. In other words, the situation is critical. Most of those who remain live in private houses, where they can heat with their own stoves and have wells. And there are also people who don’t care where or how they live—those who never worked and don’t mind how they spend the rest of their lives,” the journalist added.
- Over the past 24 hours, on January 30, there were 150 combat clashes on the Russian-Ukrainian front. In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 71 enemy attacks.
- During the night of January 30 to 31, Ukrainian forces regained positions near Udachne in the Donetsk region.
