Polish, Romanian troops advanced into Ukraine, Russian propaganda falsely claims
Russian propaganda continues its disinformation campaign about the alleged encroachment on the territory of Ukraine by its western neighbors
This was reported by Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation.
“Hostile resources are spreading fakes that the Ukrainian borders with Poland and Romania are ‘actually controlled by foreign border guards’ and that in some areas Poles and Romanians ‘have moved up to 2 km deep into Ukrainian territory,’ the Center writes.
The Russians have the only “confirmation” of this information: propagandists are spreading a video of a captured Ukrainian border guard.
“Russia systematically uses videos of 'confessions' of Ukrainian prisoners to spread disinformation. However, given the large number of proven cases of torture and threats against Ukrainians in Russian captivity, such recordings cannot be considered evidence,” the statement said.
The purpose of such fakes from the Russian Federation is to justify military aggression and create the illusion of the “legitimacy” of the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
