Ukrainian teachers complete training under Ukraine-Taiwan partnership program
During seven months of training at the Ukrainian Catholic University, teachers mastered Python programming, robotics, and STEM education
Thirty-three computer science teachers have graduated from the first innovative educational program, Leave no one behind partnership. The pilot project included educators from 20 schools in the Lviv, Poltava, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
Under the terms of the Ukrainian-Taiwanese Leave no one behind partnership project for computerization and innovative education, participating schools will receive rewards: sets of 16 laptops, robotics kits, projectors, and screens. The equipment will be installed in computer science classrooms for students.
"Seven months of lectures, homework, and exams, under the guidance of the best lecturers. A total of 390 hours of training. In the end, we created a community of innovative teachers. Thirty specialists can now share their knowledge and become experts in the field of innovative technological education. We are very happy to present them with their well-deserved awards. We understand that the new equipment is in reliable hands and will be used for the benefit of children, and computer science lessons will become their favorite," said Ulyana Pak, project manager of Leave no one behind partnership.
The meeting with the project finalists took place in the format of a discussion titled Education of the Future for a Better Country.
The graduates were also congratulated by the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University Taras Dobko, Member of Parliament Mykola Knyazhytskyi, and dissident and co-founder of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group Myroslav Marynovych. The Head of the Taipei Representative Office in Poland, Ambassador Jeff Liu, joined the conversation online.
"Although this is also an incredibly difficult time for us, we are trying to help Ukraine and support you. However, such support needs to come not only from within the country. Unity of everyone around is needed. It is especially important to support those who bring education to your communities. Your desire to create a quality learning environment is a heroic effort. Taiwan is committed to its obligation to support education and educators. Your struggle is the struggle of democracy against an authoritarian regime. We are confident that a dictator cannot win. Therefore, Ukraine will prevail," said Jeff Liu.
The project is implemented by the All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum NGO with the support of Taiwan and with the assistance of Mykola Knyazhytskyi.
The organizers hope to continue the project soon, as schools in other regions of Ukraine also need similar support.
"We carefully designed the Leave no one behind project together with the lecturers of the Ukrainian Catholic University. We would like to expand it to the entire Ukraine. So that Ukrainian children do not have to leave but know that they will receive the best education right here. And Ukrainian teachers will be proud of their professional level and pass on their knowledge to children. We are thinking about how to help those regions where there are problems, where schools have 'gone underground'. This includes Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions. There, children find it even harder to study, with education being online. However, online education must also be of a high standard," said the founder of the All-Ukrainian Democratic Forum NGO, Member of Parliament Mykola Knyazhytskyi.
"One of the biggest challenges after the war will be to maintain a positive vision that generates a grand idea. We need people and hubs that are capable of thinking about victory, about what will happen after the war ends, and how to respond to future challenges. We must be those people, those who contribute to shaping the future," emphasized the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University, Taras Dobko.
