What weapons has Israel provided to boost Ukraine’s air defense? Expert estimates
Defense Express development director Valerii Riabykh says that 90 missiles for the Patriot system could have been supplied to Ukraine, but not by Israel—rather, by the United States
He made this statement on Espreso TV.
“As for the possibility of Israel supplying missiles for the Patriot system, this would be great news, which is currently emerging in the media amid observed movements of Israeli Air Force transport aircraft and their presence near Rzeszów, which serves as the main hub for supplying ammunition and defense equipment to Ukraine’s Defense Forces,” Riabykh explained.
According to the military expert, the need for air defense systems remains constant. The 90 missiles for the Patriot system could theoretically have been supplied, but not by Israel—rather, by the United States. This is because Israel has decommissioned its PAC-2 version of the Patriot system, which had been in the country for over 30 years. As a result, Israel transferred PAC-2 missiles for the Patriot system to the U.S., and the U.S., in turn, decided to supply them to Ukraine to replenish its air defense stockpile. This is happening amid the active involvement of the new U.S. administration in studying issues related to the Russia-Ukraine war.
“This could be a positive sign, especially since, according to various estimates, Israel still has between four and eight Patriot batteries, which also have the potential to be sent to Ukraine. This will depend on the decision of the United States,” Riabykh emphasized.
