Clashes near Pokrovsk match front-wide battle intensity — Khortytsia troop grouping
Spokesperson for Ukraine's Khortytsia troop grouping, Viktor Trehubov, reports that Russian forces are still attempting to encircle Pokrovsk
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Russia still seeks to implement its plan to encircle Pokrovsk. In fact, it is the only plausible strategy for the Russians. It would be illogical for them to begin executing this plan and then switch to attempting a direct assault on the city. Of course, nothing can be ruled out — this is Russia we're talking about — but such a move would only make things worse for them," Trehubov said.
According to him, the number of clashes in the village near Pokrovsk in recent weeks is comparable to the number of battles on the entire frontline.
“Russians are trying to surround the town from the southwestern and western sides. This is their long-term ambition, because it cannot be done quickly. But they are trying very hard, this is their main goal and ambition at this stage of the war and their occupation attempts,” added the Khortytsia spokesman.
- On January 29, 158 combat clashes took place at the frontline over the last day. In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions 72 times.
