Sweden announces $1.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine
Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson announced the largest military aid package for Ukraine, worth $1.2 billion
Jonson shared this information on the social network X.
Specifically, approximately $90 million will be allocated for the production of long-range Ukrainian missiles and drones. The aid package will also include:
- 16 Combat Boat 90 assault boats and 23 weapon stations for them;
- 1 million rounds of 12.7 mm ammunition;
- 146 trucks;
- 1,500 TOW anti-tank missiles;
- 200 anti-tank shells, including training equipment.
Around 45% of the aid package—$534 million—will be used for new defense industry products for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. These funds may be allocated for artillery, long-range strike systems, and drones, according to the Swedish defense minister.
Additionally, $58 million will be allocated for the training and preparation of Ukrainian soldiers in 2025. Another $71 million will be spent on the repair and maintenance of equipment previously donated by Sweden. These funds will also be used for transportation and logistics security.
“Approx. 250 million USD will be allocated towards different international funds. 178 million USD will be directed towards the Danish model, which aims to source funds for Ukraine’s defense industrial base. This also builds sustainability and resilience within Ukraine,” Jonson added.
- This month, Sweden and Ukraine agreed to develop a bilateral agreement to support the implementation of joint projects in the defense industry.
