Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy predicts that the Kursk operation will become an important part of the negotiation process for ending Russia's war against Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated following his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, as reported by Ukrinform.

"Tomorrow marks six months since the operation in the Kursk direction. It's a very important operation. You will see later, when we reach diplomatic negotiations to end the war, what conditions the Russians will face regarding the Kursk region. This was a very important step. I don't like to throw around words like 'historic.' The whole history of Ukraine and its struggle is likely a historical path, so I won't use that word for this operation. But it was definitely very important. And I am grateful to all the soldiers defending our territory, including through the Kursk operation," Zelenskyy remarked.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "are consistently holding the situation there and will continue to do so."

"The Russians are suffering heavy losses there. They are significantly underreporting them. Their North Korean troops are fleeing, and we can see it," the Ukrainian president said.

He also noted that several key military targets in Kursk were hit by long-range weapons.

"We have struck several very critical military command points. And these are very serious steps. They are important. I believe they will not be able to push us off this territory in the near future, and this, like a magnet, is keeping 60,000 of their troops in this direction," said the president.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region has allowed for the stabilization of the situation in Kharkiv.

  • On February 5, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy arrived in Kyiv. He met with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and announced a new aid package.
  • On Tuesday, February 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that Ukraine is open to American investments.
