Putin is desperately afraid of mobilization in Russia, but the military insists on it - Piontkovsky
Renowned political scientist Andriy Piontkovsky has noted that mobilization for Putin would mean a social catastrophe and the house of cards of national support for the "Russian world" would fall apart.
He expressed this opinion on Espresso.
"Putin probably has a better sociology than you and I, obtained from his secret services, so he is desperately afraid of mobilization. After all, it is obvious that the military insists on it. Putin changes generals after leaks, attacks them with obscene language during his conference, and they even try to lash out at him. Their main argument is that they don't have the strength, so mobilization is needed. However, Putin understands that mobilization will mean a social catastrophe for him. The house of cards of national support for the "Russian world", the so-called rescue of compatriots, will collapse at all at once," the political scientist explained.
Andriy Piontkovsky noted that it is one thing when people are ready to watch it on TV with some pseudo-patriotic feeling, but no one wants to go and die for Putin's crazy ideas, otherwise he would not mobilize criminals, bandits and recruit 50-year-old volunteers.
"Look, a major technological power is asking for help from the military arms of Iran and North Korea. Putin is leaving Syria, leaving Karabakh and leaving everything to Erdogan, making him the full master of both Syria and the South Caucasus. He is taking out his vaunted S-300 systems in order to not shoot at planes, but at ground targets. He is forced to use anti-aircraft missiles because he is running out of Calibers and Iskanders. This is a complete disaster. And of course, in this atmosphere, general discontent develops both against the war and ultra-fascists, which require its expansion. Putin found himself in an unenviable position," commented Piontkovsky.
