Zelenskyy brings Ukraine to brink of destruction: foreign manipulations for September 20
The Center for Countering Disinformation has published a selection of anti-Ukrainian narratives that were launched by the world media on September 20
According to the National Security and Defense Council's Center for Countering Disinformation, disinformation and manipulation appeared in the world on September 20.
Disinformation: Irish journalist Chay Bowes wrote on his page in X: “Five years after promising Ukrainians, he would "End the War" and "Put an End Corruption". The Clown Prince Dictator has brought Ukraine to the brink of annihilation.”
Rebuttal: Bowes promotes Russian propaganda narratives to shift responsibility for the destruction of Ukraine from the Kremlin to the Ukrainian government.
Manipulation: Swedish publicist Mats Nilsson wrote on his page in X: "Apparently the European Parliament called on the EU countries to lift restrictions on Kiev's long-range strikes on Russian territory. Bad idea. Russia will give a tough response using more powerful weapons.”
Rebuttal: Allowing Ukraine to strike military targets on Russian territory is a logical step towards strengthening its self-defense against Russian aggression. Furthermore, claims of a "tough response" from Russia are used to intimidate, and Russia's escalation continues regardless of Ukraine's actions.
- On September 19, the West spread the narrative that a small nuclear weapon could have exploded in Toropets.
