Denmark donates €40.7 million to Ukraine for production of Bohdana howitzers
Ukraine has received €40.7 million from Denmark's aid package for the production of Bohdana howitzers
Ukraine's Defense Ministry reports.
It is noted that €40.7 million of the Danish aid package for Ukrainian production is already on the accounts of the Defense Ministry.
"This is an important step to strengthen our defense capabilities, as Denmark has allocated a total of €50 million for the production of 18 newest artillery and, most importantly, Ukrainian Bohdana self-propelled howitzer," the statement says.
The Bohdana self-propelled howitzer is a Ukrainian self-propelled artillery system. The caliber of the gun is 155 mm, which meets NATO standards. It can accommodate up to 5 crew members, has a maximum speed of 80 km/h and a maximum range of 60 km.
Production began in 2015 at the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant. In 2022, the howitzer received its baptism of fire in the Battle of Zmiinyi Island, and in 2023 it was officially adopted by the Armed Forces.
- On September 15, Danish Defense Minister Trolls Lund Poulsen announced that 18 Bohdana howitzers, developed in two months, had been handed over to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Their production was funded by Denmark in July.
