Over 900 fire teams protect Ukraine's critical infrastructure – National Guard
More than 900 fire teams, around 500 of which are mobile, protect Ukraine's critical infrastructure from Russian air attacks
This was reported by the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, to Interfax-Ukraine.
"We have over 900 fire teams, of which about 500 are mobile fire teams, while the rest are stationary. We are improving the quality of mobile fire teams and counting on their effectiveness," he said.
According to Pivnenko, with the delivery of technical assistance, all fire teams will be converted into mobile units to enhance their efficiency.
The National Guard Commander also noted that the United States is assisting in protecting Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
"We have already received the first vehicles equipped with 'interesting equipment' from them. We are currently testing this protection system and will send it to training centers. Foreign partners are also helping us with long-range detection radars for destroying Shahed drones," he said.
Pivnenko emphasized that the National Guard's fire teams are involved in supporting the effective operation of air defense systems, which are managed by the Air Force.
"We are working on equipping and training these groups. The teams have tablets showing what and where is flying. Weather conditions and the altitude of Shahed drones vary, so the effectiveness also varies. However, the performance of these teams is improving, and, as a result, the level of protection of our infrastructure is increasing," explained the commander.
