Reuters reported the information.
The news agency noted that this figure exceeds previous estimates by U.S. officials.
"It is clear that Russian and North Korean military leaders are treating these troops as expendable and ordering them on hopeless assaults against Ukrainian defenses," Kirby emphasized.
He described the North Korean troops' offensive as "massed, dismounted assaults."
Additionally, the White House spokesperson stated that President Joe Biden is likely to approve another security assistance package for Ukraine in the coming days.
- On December 19, Reuters reported that at least 100 North Korean soldiers fighting on the side of Russia had been killed and another 1,000 wounded in battles with Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region.
