The Commander-in-Chief  of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced this on Facebook.

He noted that he reviewed reports on various aspects of military operations, including Air Defense Forces, electronic warfare, unmanned systems, training, and restoration of combat capability, logistics, mobilization, and countering violations.

"This year has been a challenging test of our resilience. Yet, despite everything, we have stood firm and continue to fight — holding back overwhelmingly superior Russian army, maintaining control over strategically important areas, securing the western part of the Black Sea, and reducing Russia's military and industrial potential, including with deep strike capabilities," Syrskyi stated.

Russian losses

The army chief reported that since the beginning of 2024, the total losses of the invading Russian forces have already surpassed 421,000 killed and wounded.

"This year, the Russians have paid the highest price since the start of their invasion of Ukraine," emphasized the Commander-in-Chief.

He added that the total losses of the Russian army over the entire period amount to approximately 785,000 soldiers.

Development of drone systems

"In the outgoing year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces created the Unmanned Systems Forces. We are enhancing this crucial component, essential in the conditions of modern technological warfare. Compared to last year, the supply of drone systems to Ukrainian military has increased 19 times. The number of Russian targets hit and destroyed has risen by 3.7 times," emphasized Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Military training advances

Syrskyi noted that this year, the duration of basic training for mobilized personnel was increased.

"Quality training is essential for saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, which I constantly emphasize," Syrskyi stated.

Ukraine's top general added that the meeting summarized existing issues and outlined ways to address them.

"I set priorities for the coming year and gave specific tasks to the commands and management," he concluded.

  • The General Staff reported earlier that it is working on creating conditions for a 2-month military training program for new recruits.
