Over 96% of drones used by Ukrainian military are made domestically - Defense Ministry
Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has announced that over 96% of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by the Ukrainian military at the front are produced domestically
He shared this on his Facebook page.
Umerov noted that the rapid growth of Ukraine's defense industry, particularly in drone production, played a role in this achievement. Ukrainian-made drones accounted for 96.2% of the Ukrainian forces' UAV needs in 2024.
"Thanks to the Ministry of Defense's orders for domestic production, we are meeting the soldiers' critical needs while reducing dependence on supplies from foreign partners," Umerov stated.
In 2024, Ukrainian companies produced and assembled more than 1.5 million FPV drones, attack copters, kamikaze drones, reconnaissance drones, and long-range deep-strike drones.
“These figures reflect a new level of efficiency in the collaboration between the state and Ukrainian UAV manufacturers. In 2025, cooperation with domestic enterprises will remain our top priority,” Umerov concluded.
- Ukraine started mass-producing the Peklo drone-missile. In December, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy present, the first batch was delivered to the Defense Forces and is already confirmed for combat use.
