Ukraine's Kurakhove sector under Russian attack - DeepState
Invading Russian forces are ramping up their attacks toward Kurakhove in the Donetsk region
The Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState reported the information on September 20.
“The Russian army is trying hard to break through Ukrainian positions near Kurakhove, and the past week has seen tough battles for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, especially the 46th Brigade, around Hostre, Heorhiivka, and Maksymilianivka,” analysts say.
Russian troops want to build on their recent success in Krasnohorivka to push toward Hostre, bringing in a lot of equipment and soldiers. However, they are facing strong resistance from Ukrainian drones and artillery.
“They hope to outflank Heorhiivka and Maksymilianivka, where they have repeatedly failed. The increase in Russian activity around Kurakhove has grown over the past week, coinciding with progress in the Ukrainsk-Zhelanne Pershe-Nevelske area. Many units from nearby regions have been brought in to help,” DeepState explains.
According to the analysts, right now, the Russians are attempting to completely seize Zhelanne Pershe and secure control of the town of Ukrainsk. They continue to regroup and amass forces for further advances, particularly towards Hirnyk.
