EU comments on Russia's use of intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine
The European Union has seen reports of Russia's use of an intercontinental ballistic missile and is currently "assessing the full picture”
European Commission spokesperson Peter Stano said this during a briefing in Brussels, according to European Pravda.
"Obviously, such attacks would mean another clear escalation by Putin. And over the last period of time, we have actually seen no shortage of signs of further escalation by Putin," Stano said.
According to the spokesperson, attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure are not a sign that the Russian dictator is seeking de-escalation.
"Putin is again playing a nuclear gamble with Russia's recently updated nuclear doctrine, he has brought North Korean soldiers on European soil, so these are all clear signs of a desire for escalation rather than a real search for peace," Peter Stano emphasized.
He added that if the evidence of Russia's use of an intercontinental ballistic missile is confirmed, “it will be another quantitative and qualitative change in this approach and a clear sign of escalation.”
- On the morning of November 21, the Russian army launched an intercontinental ballistic missile, a Kinzhal, and a Kh-101 at Ukrainian territory. The Air Defense Forces destroyed 6 enemy targets.
- Later, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russian military had used a new missile, probably an intercontinental ballistic missile, against Ukraine on November 21.
