U.S. likely to supply medium-range missiles for Ukraine’s F-16s
The United States is considering providing Ukraine with medium-range missiles for F-16 fighter jets as part of a $375 million military aid package expected to be announced on September 23
Politico reported this information.
According to the publication, these missiles have a range of over 112 km, allowing Ukrainian pilots to strike Russian targets from a much greater distance. This capability would enable Ukraine to target defense installations and weapon depots further back from the front lines, complicating Russian military operations.
In addition to the missiles, the package - which is still being finalized - would also include artillery ammunition and air defense systems. However, the details may change before the official announcement.
If approved, this package would be the largest since May and could be the last presidential decision to supply arms to Ukraine before the end of the current fiscal year on September 30.
