Nuclear and radiation catastrophe will be avoided if ZNPP is liberated next month - Energoatom
Nuclear and radiation catastrophe will be avoided if Zaporizhzhia NPP is liberated from Russian occupants next month
This was stated by Ukraine’s state energy company Energoatom President Petro Kotin in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, the shallowing Kakhovka reservoir does not pose a danger to the operation of ZNPP, as the plant has a separate cooling pond on its territory with a water level of 16.6 meters.
"This is more than enough for the plant and safety systems to operate," Kotin said.
He emphasized that more than 2,000 personnel, who remain loyal to Ukraine, are monitoring safety at ZNPP. Representatives of the IAEA are also at the plant. Kotin is confident that the plant is not in danger, but Russian troops must be withdrawn from the NPP for its normal operation.
"I think that in the state in which the plant is now, we will avoid a nuclear and radiation disaster. But this is on the condition that next month we will free the station from the presence of these Rascists," said the president of Energoatom.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concern about another blackout at ZNPP, which occurred as a result of massive missile attacks on Ukraine on March 9.
