Ukraine opens extra camp for Russian POWs captured in northern Kharkiv region
Ukraine is setting up an additional camp for Russian prisoners of war captured during a new offensive in the Kharkiv region
Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), shared the information on the United News telethon.
He noted that Ukraine was prepared for a new offensive, which started “on schedule.”
“We can say that the enemy's actions in this area began on schedule, which was known, about which we were informed, of course, as it should be for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine,” Yusov said.
He said that the decision to deploy an additional camp for Russian POWs in Ukraine was due to Russia’s significant losses in the Kharkiv region.
“Given the scale of the situation with the Russian groups, their losses, including future losses, it was decided to open an additional detention facility, an additional camp for Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine as soon as possible, and this information will soon be public and official,” the DIU spokesman said.
He also appealed to the Russians who are currently fighting in the Kharkiv direction, “in particular, the Moscow and Leningrad military districts,” to surrender.
“Such cases are already actively occurring, we have information from the RDC fighters, the Freedom of Russia Legion, the Sibir Battalion, they also made appeals to the Russian occupiers today: either to join the Ukrainian Security and Defense Forces or to surrender,” Yusov said.
He added that Ukraine guarantees compliance with all conventions and life and safety for those who surrender.
“We already have such servicemen and soon there will be more information about them. Given the enemy's losses in this area are significant and will only increase, surrender or going over to the side of Ukraine is a reasonable alternative,” Yusov said.
Battles with occupying Russian forces in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region

At 11:00 p.m. on May 10, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that defensive battles were currently underway in the Kharkiv region. Counterattacks continue in the directions of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. The Russian army is using infantry and equipment.
On May 10, 1,775 civilians were evacuated from the districts of Kharkiv region that are constantly under intense Russian fire.
Subsequently, the Atesh guerrilla movement reported that the Russian military refused to attack Kharkiv. The Russian occupation troops also began to apply new tactical signs to their vehicles, probably denoting a group operating in the north of Kharkiv region.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that Russian offensive operations along the border in Kharkiv region are likely to have a strategic goal of drawing and consolidating Ukrainian forces on this axis to enable Russian advance into other areas of eastern Ukraine.- News
