Russian forces use Kherson as FPV drone training ground, leaving civilians wounded daily
Oleksandr Samoilenko, head of the Kherson Regional Council, says that Russian forces are trying to turn the Kherson region into a training ground for drone operators
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“Russian forces in the Kherson region are using a specific type of weapon — FPV drones — which they attempt to launch by the dozens or even hundreds every day to create a training ground for operators who will later work on the front line. As a result, we have wounded people almost every day. Since the beginning of the year alone, 29 people have been killed in the Kherson region, and more than 237 have been injured,” Samoilenko emphasized.
He added that Kherson has not experienced a single day of peace in all three years of the war.
“This night was no exception because, starting from 6:00 p.m. on February 24, there was a massive shelling with multiple launch rocket systems, which injured at least six people, including a 15-year-old girl. The shelling with barrel artillery occurs constantly — every day, both during the day and at night,” Samoilenko noted.
- On Saturday, February 22, the Russian occupying army dropped an explosive from a drone onto a civilian car in Kherson, injuring a 58-year-old man.
- On Sunday, February 23, the Russian occupying army attacked the village of Romashkove in the Kherson region using a UAV. A hostile drone flew into the window of a residential house, injuring a woman.
