Andrej Danko, leader of the Slovak National Party, wants Ukraine to pay back the €3.5 billion given by previous Slovak governments as aid

European Pravda reports it, citing Danko’s video message on his Facebook page.

"How will Zelenskyy return €3.5 billion we sent there? For us, €3.5 billion is a huge amount of money."

Danko was responding to reports that the U.S. is close to securing a deal with Ukraine that would grant it a share of Ukraine’s mineral resources. According to Trump, this agreement would help recover the money invested in Ukraine, which has been resisting Russian aggression for three years.

"If the Germans, along with the French and Americans, are demanding their money back, Slovakia can't stay silent," added Danko, whose party is part of the ruling coalition.

Danko claims that, three years into Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, people are starting to see the reality. "The Russians will stay where they are. Ukraine used this conflict to get financial aid — money they often stole," he said.

Nowhere in his video does Danko acknowledge that Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago. Instead, he refers to the war as "events in Ukraine."

The nationalist leader believes the fighting will end soon. "We'll see if Zelenskyy betrays Europe and hands over the minerals to Trump — because then he’ll be lying to the European Union," Danko said.
