Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman and political analyst Kyrylo Sazonov spoke about the situation in Chasiv Yar as of June 1

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

“The situation is difficult, the shelling continues here, a lot of mortars, aerial bombs, aviation, a little less cannon artillery, they work with cassettes. At night, closer to morning, there was an attempted enemy assault, our artillery of the 41st Brigade worked very well. The Russians are trying to advance along the road from Bakhmut to Kostiantynivka to reach Kostiantynivka, from there to the west - Pokrovsk, to the north - Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, but it is not a very good place for them and the terrain is open. South of the road, Russians were making some progress, but they were stopped by a canal, which is a natural barrier to the movement of equipment," explained Sazonov.

According to the military, in the north, Russian troops are trying to reach the borders of Chasiv Yar through the remains of one-story buildings that have already turned into garbage.

“Unfortunately, they are already shelling the Kanal neighborhood from three sides and trying to storm it, but this neighborhood is on the other side of the canal in the direction of Bakhmut. Novyi and Staryi Chasiv Yar neighborhoods are across the canal and this is probably the most important obstacle for them. We are holding on, Chasiv Yar is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces - it is a Ukrainian city, the dominant height, this is the situation,” said the political analyst.

Map of military operations: Chasiv Yar

  • Ukrainian defenders made a small advance near Kreminna, Luhansk region. Russia still intends to capture Chasiv Yar.
  • Oleh Kalashnikov, head of the press service of the 26th Artillery Brigade, noted that the Russians had used all their resources to storm Chasiv Yar.
