Putin considers Slovakia as negotiation platform for Ukraine war
Kremlin leader claims willingness to negotiate while stressing that achieving Russia’s military goals remains the top priority
Russian leader Vladimir Putin made this statement to Russian propagandists on December 26.
Putin was asked whether the conflict could end in 2025.
"As people say here, 'from your lips to God’s ears,'" replied the Russian dictator.
"We also strive to end the conflict," he cynically added.
Putin claimed that during his meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, they discussed a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. According to the Russian leader, Slovakia expressed its readiness to provide a platform for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Putin stated that Russia is not against this idea.
At the same time, the Kremlin leader emphasized that the Russian army would continue striving for success on the frontline.
"Of course, we proceed from the fact that we will accomplish all the tasks of the special military operation. This is generally task number one," he said.
- On December 24, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian leader’s spokesperson, claimed that Russia was ready for negotiations with Ukraine.
