Dmitry Medvedev says nuclear war is approaching
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, says that the world is on the brink of a nuclear war
This is reported by Russian mass media.
"The world is sick. And it is quite likely that it is on the verge of a new world war. Is it inevitable? No, it is not. A world war can be avoided, but I will not make predictions, predictions are futile," said Medvedev.
Medvedev also pointed out that the chances of using nuclear weapons are increasing daily, and therefore, the global climate crisis should not be a primary concern.
"This is nothing compared to the threat of being in the epicenter of a nuclear explosion, with the explosion's temperature reaching up to 5,000 Kelvin, a shock wave of 350 m per second, and pressure of 3,000 per square meter, along with penetrating radiation, ionizing radiation, and an electromagnetic pulse. Is there such a prospect today? Unfortunately, yes. And it is growing for obvious reasons," Medvedev said.
Furthermore, Medvedev highlighted that empires seldom collapse without subsequent wars, and since the collapse of the USSR, a war has been avoided for nearly 30 years.
