Russia launches 99 attacks on Ukrainian positions, focusing on the Kurakhove sector

Since the beginning of September 16, there have been 99 combat engagements on the frontline, with Russian forces mainly attacking in the Kurakhove direction

Ukraine's General Staff reported the information.

Russian shelling has damaged border settlements in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, including Vovkivka, Nova Sloboda, Velyka Berizka, Porokhon, and Hremiach.

Additionally, Russian airstrikes targeted areas in Shalyhyne, Nova Sloboda, Richky, and Novomykolaivka, dropping 11 bombs. Russian forces have also dropped 15 guided bombs on the Kursk region in Russia today.

Frontline situation

In the Kupyansk sector, Russia launched seven assault attacks near Synkivka and Lozova. Three of these engagements have concluded, while four are still ongoing.

In the Lyman sector, the invading forces carried out 18 attacks near Hrekivka, Druzheliubivka, Makiivka, Nevske, Novosadove, Lozova, Bilohorivka, and in the Serebrianskyi forest. Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 12 of these attacks, with six still in progress. Russia also conducted airstrikes on Novoiehorivka and Kucherivka.

In the Siversk sector, Russian forces made one unsuccessful attack in the Ivano-Darivka area during the day.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russian army launched four assault attacks. Ukrainian defense forces stopped two attacks near Chasiv Yar, while two more are ongoing in the Vasiukivka area.

In the Toretsk sector, Russia carried out 12 attacks near Druzhba, Toretsk, and Zalizne. Nine of these battles ended unsuccessfully for the invaders, with three still ongoing. Shcherbynivka has also been targeted by Russian airstrikes, with nine guided bombs dropped on the area so far.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Russia has made 24 attempts since the beginning of the day to push Ukrainian defenders from their positions near Vozdvyzhenka, Hrodivka, Novohrodivka, Marynivka, and Krasnyi Yar. Ukrainian forces are holding firm, repelling 20 attacks, with four engagements still ongoing. Russia's losses are still being assessed.

The Kurakhove sector is the most intense today, with Russia attacking 26 times in the direction of Ukrainsk, Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Pershe, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, and Katerynivka. Nineteen engagements have ended, with seven still ongoing.

In the Vremivka sector, the Russian army launched five attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vuhledar, Katerynivka, Vodiane, and Kostiantynivka. Two of these assaults were repelled, with three firefights still ongoing.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russia continues to shell both Ukrainian positions and civilian infrastructure and is conducting airstrikes.

In the Prydniprovskyi sector, Russian forces attempted twice to push Ukrainian units from their positions but faced strong resistance and incurred losses.

  • Over the past day, Russian troops lost 1,060 soldiers at the front in Ukraine. The Ukrainian military also destroyed a number of Russian vehicles and weapons.
