Italy to send second Samp-T air defense battery to Ukraine
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced the transfer of the second battery of SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine
Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported the information.
“We have provided Kyiv with unconditional assistance: military, civilian, and financial. Now we are going to send a second SAMP-T battery to protect the Ukrainian population,” he said.
Tajani noted that Ukraine has never asked for more help than Italy is already providing.
“Zelenskyy has never asked for more than we are doing. And we do not have British and American weapons,” he said.
In addition, the Italian Foreign Minister also expressed optimism that a “serious peace conference” on Ukraine would be held by the end of the year.
For reference: SAMP-T (Surface-to-Air Missile Platform - Terminal) is a modern anti-aircraft missile system developed jointly by France and Italy. It is designed to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as aircraft flying at low altitudes.
