Kazakh President Tokayev says Russia is ‘invincible’ militarily
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called Russia ‘invincible’ in military terms, and said further escalation of the war will lead to ‘irreparable consequences’
The press service of the President of Kazakhstan reported.
‘It is a fact that Russia is invincible in military terms. A further escalation of the war will lead to irreparable consequences for all of humanity and, above all, for all countries directly involved in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict,’ Tokayev said during a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
According to him, the chance to reach a truce was lost with the refusal to sign the Istanbul Agreement. Nevertheless, Tokayev is convinced that there is a possibility for peace.
The President of Kazakhstan believes that it is necessary to carefully consider all peace initiatives of various states and stop hostilities, and only then move on to discussing territorial issues.
‘In our opinion, the peace plan of China and Brazil deserves support. Heads of state come and go, but nations, especially neighboring nations, should live in peace and mutual understanding,’ Tokayev said.
At the same time, he reminded that Kazakhstan actively cooperates with Russia and treats Ukraine with ‘genuine sympathy’: ‘There have never been any contradictions between our countries.’
- The Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Serik Zhumangarin, said that the country ‘will not blindly follow sanctions’ against Russia if they affect local companies that are major employers in Central Europe.
