Fires break out in Kharkiv region following Russian shelling
Numerous fires broke out in the Kharkiv region as a result of Russian shelling. While the situation is under control, it remains challenging
This was reported by Volodymyr Tymoshko, the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv Region, on Espreso TV.
“Russia continues its attacks. Unfortunately, over the past 24 hours, 23 guided bombs were dropped in the region, including in the city, by midnight. By 6:40 p.m. today, Russian forces had dropped another 16 guided aerial bombs. Between 4:30 and 5:30 a.m., they dropped 10 bombs on the Kupyansk and Borova communities, two on Vovchansk, and four more on Bohodukhiv in the afternoon. Four of the bombs hit the area around the railway station, with one striking a nearby grain storage facility. Thankfully, there were no casualties, though a grass fire did break out in Bohodukhiv,” Tymoshko said.
According to him, most of the fires in the Kharkiv region are the result of Russian military aggression.
“In addition to guided aerial bombs, the Russians are using MLRS in the region, and all of this is causing fires. Unfortunately, the weather isn't helping with firefighting efforts. Right now, we have fires in several areas, including the Izium, Kupyansk, Lyptsi, Tsyrkuny, Bohodukhiv, and Zmiiv communities. In the Kharkiv district, there are fires in Bezliudivka and Khorosheve, where two houses even caught fire yesterday. Fortunately, the State Emergency Service was able to bring the fire under control and stabilize the situation, but it remains challenging. There's a fire ongoing in Kharkiv,” the police chief added.
- On September 16, around 10:30 a.m., Russian troops attacked the village of Petropavlivka in the Kupyansk district.
