Mandatory evacuation ordered for 15-kilometer border zone with Ukraine in Russia’s Kursk region
The regional operational headquarters of Russia's Kursk region has announced the evacuation of residents from the 15-kilometer border zone with Ukraine

Kursk region's acting governor Alexei Smirnov announced this on September 16.
The mandatory evacuation affects the towns in the Rylsk and Khomutovka districts within the 15-kilometer zone. This decision was made "to ensure security."
The statement also noted that security forces, local administration, and the Patriot center vigilantes in Kursk will coordinate the evacuation process.
- People in Russia’s Kursk region have complained to Ukrainian forces that Russia is not providing an evacuation corridor for civilians.
