Russia leaves Kursk region civilians without evacuation corridor
People in Russia’s Kursk region have complained to Ukrainian forces that Russia is not providing an evacuation corridor for civilians
Vadym Mysnyk, a spokesman for Ukraine's Siversk grouping of troops, shared the information on the United News national telethon on September 1.
"They (residents - ed.) say they want peace, that they are out of politics. They say that they either want the fighting to stop or to be given a corridor to leave the war zone, which Russia has not provided,” he said.
Mysnyk added that the Russian army is targeting areas without a military presence, including cities and villages, using guided aerial bombs and drones.
“Russian forces recently destroyed the Sudzha ice arena with a guided aerial bomb. The day before yesterday, they also destroyed a modern boarding school, and there are many such examples,” Mysnyk said.
He added that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are working to create conditions for normal life in the areas they control. However, due to intense shelling by the Russian military, most residents of Sudzha are forced to spend the night in basements.
The spokesman emphasized that the humanitarian situation is difficult.
