Zaluzhnyi, Syrskyi, and Nayev: Three leading AFU commanders announced wanted by Russia. Ukraine reacts
Russia has declared the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, and the Commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, on the wanted list
This is reported by the Russian mass media.
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs search database revealed the name of Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi. In May, the Investigative Committee charged Zaluzhnyi and other Ukrainian military leaders in absentia with the "shelling of the civilian population and civilian objects of Donbas" under Article 356 of the Criminal Code.
It has been noted by the media that Russian pro-government publications and Telegram channels started spreading information, without specifying sources, that Zaluzhnyi had missed a public event because he was killed in a Russian missile strike near Kherson. Later, the story changed: RIA Novosti claimed that the head of the Ukrainian General Staff had sustained a "head injury" that would prevent him from continuing his duties and had undergone surgery.
Subsequently, it was revealed that the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs had declared Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wanted, as indicated in the open database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the Russian Investigative Committee, Syrskyi is accused in absentia of organizing the shelling of the civilian population and civilian objects.
Furthermore, Russian law enforcement officers have decided to declare Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, the commander of the United Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, wanted as well, as reported by TASS, based on data from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The specific charges against Nayev are not specified in the information provided by the aggressor country's agency.
The name of Commander-in-Chief Valerii Zaluzhnyi appeared in the search database of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Investigative Committee reported in May that it had charged Zaluzhnyi and other Ukrainian military leaders in absentia for the so-called "shelling of the civilian population and civilian objects of Donbas" (Article 356 of the Criminal Code).
Ukraine's reaction
Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, believes that Russia discredits itself as a country lacking any semblance of sanity with its wanted announcement. He sarcastically suggested that there should be an open day at special medical institutions for those responsible for such statements, implying they may have some psychological issues. Podolyak emphasized that Russia initiated the war and behaves as if it has control over Ukrainian affairs.
