Hennadiy Khazan, President of the Ukrainian Aviation Pilots and Aircraft Owners Association, noted that the modernized Mirage 2000 fighters are able to carry Storm Shadow cruise missiles

He spoke about this on the air of Espreso.

"There was a statement by the French Minister of Defense that Mirage 2000 aircraft had already been delivered to Ukraine. At one time, the French supplied these aircraft abroad, it was an export option, and then they decided to leave a certain number for their own use. Later, they switched to modern, more advanced aviation equipment, and the Mirage 2000 aircraft were withdrawn from the French Air Force. I would like to note that the Mirage 2000 is a fighter that was modernized for the needs of Ukraine so that it could carry cruise missiles," noted the president of the Ukrainian Aviation Association of Pilots and Aircraft Owners.

According to him, such modernization of Mirage 2000 fighters provides enormous assistance to the Air Force of Ukraine, the same as Soviet aircraft, for example, the Su-24.

"Now we have additional carriers to use the Storm Shadow cruise missiles, which are provided to us by our partners and allies. And this means that the weight of a simultaneous salvo, that is, from all the carriers that are currently in the Ukrainian Air Force, will increase significantly," summed up Hennadiy Khazan.

Supply of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine

Emmanuel Macron announced on June 6 that France would give its fighters to Ukraine. The next day, the French president announced the start of piloting and maintenance exercises for these aircraft. Macron did not specify the number of aircraft currently in question.

In October, French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu stated that in the first half of 2025, Ukraine would receive Mirage 2000 fighters, which would be equipped with new equipment.

It was later reported that France would deliver the first three Mirage 2000-5 jet fighters to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025.

On December 25, media reported that Ukrainian pilots and mechanics had completed training on French Mirage 2000-5F fighters after six months of training.

On February 6, French Defense Minister Sebastian Lecornu announced that Ukraine had received the first Mirage 2000 fighters from France.
