Ukrainian drones target 66% of Russian military equipment in January — Ukraine's top general
In January, 66% of Russian military equipment was disabled by various types of strike drones—7% more than in December 2024
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported the information.
"In January, 66% of Russian equipment was disabled specifically by strike UAVs of various types. Overall, our drones hit or destroyed 7% more targets than in December," he said.
According to Syrskyi, FPV drones accounted for the largest share of hits — 49%. Leading in this area are the units of the 46th Airmobile, 3rd Assault, and 80th Airborne Assault Brigades.
Additionally, the Commander-in-Chief received reports on the development of Unmanned Systems Forces units, including the reorganization of regiments into brigades, the expansion of unmanned components in mechanized brigades, and the latest electronic warfare systems and their compatibility with UAVs.
Intelligence reports indicate that Russia is forming a new branch of its armed forces — the Unmanned Systems Forces. "We are aware of the enemy’s plans, which aim to establish 277 military units and subdivisions with 210,000 personnel in the UAS forces by 2030."
- The Institute for the Study of War reported that Russian forces had likely formed a separate unmanned systems regiment at the military district level to strengthen their army.
